Virtual reality in games has been a dream of gamers all round the world. Gaming would always turn into reality with the help of virtual reality kits. Moving around the room as the real character in the game, killing the enemies and defending from them would be a real fun moment for you with a virtual reality kit. Virtual reality was never ever meant for mobile phones for sure. But it is a surprising fact that virtual reality has been tried out for mobile phones and many of the leading mobile companies like Samsung are trying its hand virtual reality in mobile phones.

Kits of transforming mobile phones into headsets for virtual reality have been heard in rumors recently. The rumors of Samsung building its own virtual reality kit actually surprised the whole tech world. The virtual reality kits will be working the similar manner like those virtual reality kits that are designed for screens.  With the help of the kit, the viewer is provided with two images simultaneously that are same. You can save the changes that you need for positioning the image in each eye. The accelerometer as well as the sensors can be matched with the accessories you are been provided. This will help in creating a realistic head tracing as well as good interaction.

Most of us have the misconception that virtual reality needs the aid of highly designed screen and even electronic equipment that you will not get in a simple Smartphone. But the reality is that a Smartphone can work much better than a screen and other kinds of gadgets used for bringing in a virtual reality.

The virtual reality kit consists of a virtual reality headset with rubber straps for holding the kit to your head, and a plastic case of holding the phone. The case can hold phones up to 4.7 inched screens or more. The phone is tightly strapped to the front side of the person viewing. There are round lenses that separate the display right in front of the each eye.

You will be able to watch a movie or play games with such highly advanced virtual reality kits. You can turn your phone into something which you have never ever dreamt of. Native App Performance – The platform that has always provided the best look and feel

Native App Performance - The platform that has always provided the best look and feel

The outburst of the mobile development has sparked up a sense of debate over the best options for developing applications that give consumers and employees of whatever they expect of; it may be access to the content they need whenever and wherever they want it. In2012, the year for HTML5 used all the latest protocols to define the content and layout of web pages through various browsers as seen by the internet figures. There have been many reasons to go native and clear; and many developers are indeed walking on that route. Some of the comparisons are listed below:

Mobile Development and the Major Areas of Difficulties

Mobile Development and the Major Areas of DifficultiesTechnology is always evolving with the changing market dynamics and varying needs of the consumers. In the mobile app development industry, this change is highly evident. Almost every day, we get to see the mobile companies releasing different mobile phones and such other portable devices in the market. There has also been constant up gradation in the existing mobile phone versions.

There is no doubt about the fact that mobile development is indeed a tough job. Although the tools and Software Development Kit or SDK’s have improved over time yet the basics of mobile development has remained the same.

In this article, I have tried to highlight the areas of difficulties in mobile app development.

Inconsistent Nature of Mobile Devices

Mobile devices vary in screen size and specifications; however the real problem with mobile gadgets is that they have different kinds of sensors and a wide range of network connectivity tactics for use in mobile apps. The state of these sensors or network connectivity methods is unknown when a mobile phone user fires up your application.

Temporary Data Connections

Data connections are usually transient and prone to failure. If your app relies entirely on a network connection, you will have a lot of justification to make that you will not have to deal with in case of a web application or a desktop app. That is just the start of the problem. Mobile development experts can be pushed to the background at will.

Limited Storage Space

Many mobile devices have a small storage space that can lead to dumping your cache. The storage memory will automatically get filled up leaving no room for specific software to run. Batteries can also wear out thus causing all sorts of problems.

Desktop Apps More Privileged

While the desktop computers sit comfortably with a steady power connection and an uninterrupted internet connection, mobile phones have issues such as limited storage space, leak of confidential data and GPS. It is indeed a not-so good environment for mobile development.

App Design and Layout Problem

Mobile app development professionals face yet another crucial problem with regard to app design and layout. Almost every mobile device having a separate screen size and alignment and there arises the problem of app design and layout in this case. In case of Android devices, the number of screen sizes is approximately 100. When an app developer is designing a user interface, he must take utmost care to ensure the particular app works well on all the Android phones. Moreover, a lot of time gets wasted in fixing a large number of bugs that come up during the designing phase.

Operating System and SDK Version Fragmentation

Since the release of the first iOS and Android operating system, many new versions have been launched in the market. The mobile apps face big challenges for supporting the old as well as the new versions of iOS and Android. Software that works perfectly in one version may not work well with another one. Development professionals need to spend extra hours to resolve such app operating issues. Android is extremely patchy in both hardware and software versions. There are at present more than 11,000 different Android devices used by people.

Low Level Programming in Mobile Software

Almost every mobile app that is used in various portable gadgets needs to be multi-threaded resulting in greater complexity. Developing a mobile app is time-consuming as well. A developer can build a desktop or web app at a faster pace. For quick mobile development, these days many developers use HTML and JavaScript, or tools like Appcelerator.

Game Developer Double Helix bought out by Amazon

Game Developer Double Helix bought out by Amazon

Well known online retailer Amazon.com is trying to bolster its presence in the software market – it has bought out the video game development company Double Helix for an undisclosed amount.  A company spokesman said that the acquisition is an important part of the company’s commitment to develop and offer their customers a number of innovative and interesting games.

Amazon didn’t offer many details on the deal and there are quite a few rumors swirling about the fact that the company is working hard on developing a standalone console to compete with Sony and Microsoft.  This device will be offered with gaming capabilities.

Amazon spokespeople are keeping a tight lid on such information. The Seattle based retailer intends to keep all 74 of the company’s employees – after all, good game developers are hard to come by.  Both companies confirmed the deal but refused to give out any more details.

Reasons behind acquisition:

Amazon is trying to expand its presence in the gaming market and has made a serious commitment do so by selling games like Killer Instinct, developed by Double Helix.  This game was released at the same time as Xbox One by Microsoft, in 2013. Early rumors abound with regard to the Games console – it is supposed to be priced cheaper than Sony’s PS4 and Xbox One.  Mobile games being developed will compete Consoles like Gamestick and Ouya which run on the Android OS.

Amazon hasn’t confirmed or denied that their Games division is working on a games console to run on Android – it is supposed to be in the development stage at one of the centers.  There are hints that they will make an announcement sooner rather than later.

Amazon already has a games studio, split over 3 different locations – San Francisco, Seattle and Irvine.  Double Helix is based in Seattle as well and may figure prominently in Amazon’s plans to roll out set top boxes.  The Amazon Games job webpage is filled with listings for job openings.  According to the company, they are trying to develop fun games with innovative features – one can assume that these will be available across different platforms like web browsers, smart phones and for tablets.  Amazon games are available for iOS and Android and can be purchased and downloaded from the Amazon App Store.

In 2012, Amazon introduced a gaming studio to consumers and released several games like Air Patriots in Google Play and Living Classics for Facebook.  It has been hiring quite a few game developers and job openings for programmers and engineers are aplenty.   This particular deal was announced by TechCrunch.

According to reports, Amazon is supposed to be working on a revolutionary V1 product which will allow the company to deliver digital media in a completely new way to customers and create waves in the current marketplace. The same rumors predict that the games console offered by Amazon will have games as well as streaming music, Amazon’s cloud player and even movies on demand from Lovefilm. Amazon did not respond to multiple requests from comments but took time to talk to TechCrunch.  Double Helix Games is still an independent company according to its website, which has yet to be updated.
